Systems Integration Engineer

As a Systems Integration Engineer at Affera, you will work with cross-functional engineering and quality teams to deliver electrical medical devices that meet customer needs, mitigate risks, and drive innovation in the field of cardiac arrhythmia treatment. The Systems Integration Engineer supports electronics and software development by integrating changes from multiple teams, identifying issues (defects, usability issues, and new features), designing and performing verification testing, and ultimately delivering a great product.



  • Execute and document verification and validation plans. Apply engineering expertise to develop test plans, coordinate testing across the organization, maintain traceability to requirements and risks, and document results.
  • Participate in scheduling and planning to allocate resources and deliver hardware and software releases on time.
  • Design and implement hardware and software test fixtures including scripting, electronic, and mechanical designs.
  • Communicate with software and hardware teams to understand scope of changes and possible regressions.
  • Understand and apply IEC 60601-1 requirements for Medical Device Design.
  • Triage and resolve issues by working with hardware and software engineering teams as appropriate and enter defects and new features into the issue tracking system.
  • Support preclinical testing of the complete system at contract test facilities and research institutions.



  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience developing and/or testing products that include custom hardware and/or embedded software.
  • Understanding of circuits and signal processing concepts.
  • Experience programming in Python or MATLAB.
  • Proficiency with surface mount soldering, cable harness construction, electronic box assembly, and with lab test equipment such as signal generator, oscilloscope, and multimeter.
  • Experience working in an agile cross-functional team.
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced, ever-changing environment with little supervision.
