As an Electrical Engineer at Affera, you will be involved in the design and verification of a novel medical system from prototyping stages through regulatory approval and commercial release.

Responsibilities:

  • Play an important role in the design and verification of the company's new hardware platform from concept through commercial release and beyond.
  • Participate and contribute to system and board level design and debugging.
  • Integrate electrical components and systems within the mechanical design.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive laboratory functional testing of the existing and new designs.
  • Build relationships with vendors such as IC suppliers, contractors and external partners for development initiatives.
  • Prepare and execute plan for HW Verification and Validation in accordance with company documentation and regulatory and industry standards.
  • Attend and participate in pre-clinical in-vivo system evaluations.
  • Be part of laboratory demonstrations for investors and clinicians.
  • Other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as deemed necessary.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSEE from a top tier institution preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Good knowledge of theoretical and practical fundamentals of electronic design.
  • Must be "hands on" in an electronics lab environment and have experience using basic test equipment.
  • Ability to lead and execute design verification and validation activities, including development of automated functional and electrical testing.
  • Knowledge of Python programming language for scripting is desired.
  • Experience in development and understanding of embedded firmware design (microcontrollers, FPGA) is a plus.
  • Highly motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment with little direction.
  • Team-oriented spirit and ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
  • Familiarity with hardware engineering in a regulated environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership of technical solutions, with the capability to get results in a complex environment and managing multiple mission critical projects.
  • Educational or work experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering is desired.
  • Experience in medical device development is a plus.
